Staff Member of the Week-Mrs. Glinski-5/25/16
Alice Glinski is our newest St. John’s staff member since she became our janitor during the current school year. So far she loves the job and finds it very refreshingly different than her former job as a janitor since people here are respectful and appreciate what she does. So she finds work much more relaxing and is enjoying the nice people she works with and the compliments she gets. Mrs. Glinski also enjoys helping out at our Daycare, gardening, stained glass, and the animals on her and her husband’s hobby farm.

Donna Sternitzky has been our Daycare Director for 8 years, during which time there has been a lot of growth in Daycare use. She enjoys making life easier for parents by offering care for their children before and after school because she enjoys working with children so much. In addition to Daycare, Mrs. Sternitzky enjoys music and crafts, passions which she is often able to share with the children in her care.

Mrs. Jenny Shadrick is a Neillsville native. She began teaching at St. John’s as our first (part-time) preschool teacher 10 years ago. She thinks it is very cool to teach with some of the teachers she used to have when she was a student here at St. John’s first Kindergarten class (but we won’t tell how many years ago that was)! In addition to teaching she enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Judy Trunkel has been our church and school secretary for 21 years. She feels very blessed to enjoy her job and the students so much that it doesn’t seem like work. In addition to her job here, she also enjoys music, reading, traveling, and gardening.

The “Students of the Week” this week are Ari Hubbard and Jericho Grajewski. Ari is in 4th Grade and Jericho is in 1st Grade. Ari and Jericho will be leaving us at the end of the week, as they are moving to Eau Claire. They both did very well at our Children’s Christmas program last Sunday, knowing all their parts well and speaking and singing with enthusiasm. Teacher of the Week-Mrs. Allard-5/25/16
Megan Allard is our newest St. John’s faculty member, finishing her first year as Preschool Teacher. She loves the age group and thinks it is fun to be their first teacher. She especially loves teaching the preschoolers Bible songs and then hearing the children sing them for fun on the playground and elsewhere. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Allard loves to travel and shop for home decorating items.

Teacher of the Week-Mr. Allard-5/20-16
Mr. Mike Allard is finishing his 3rd year here at St. John’s as our upper grades teacher and principal. During that time our school has undergone many great changes, from getting accredited, to organizational changes, quarterly St. John’s Connection videos, and updates to the physical appearance of the school (such as the hallway), among others. When he’s not teaching or keeping things on track for our school, Mr. Allard enjoys grilling out, watching sporting events on TV, and golfing.

Staff Member of the Week-Mr. Channing-5/11/16
Mr. Channing has been our librarian for 18 years. When he started there were only a few bookshelves and many of the books were disorganized and stored in boxes. We appreciate all his time and effort keeping our library so organized and well stocked with current books and old favorites to read! In addition to spending time in the library he also enjoys gardening.

Mrs. Sharon Nemitz has been a teacher at St. John’s for 41 years! She most enjoys the music aspect of her teaching here, especially helping the kids sing for church. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Nemitz enjoys camping, reading, and sight-seeing trips.

Instead of a student of the week, on this School Nutrition Employee Week we have a “Cook of the Year,” Mrs. Bonnie Thoma. She has been feeding us delicious, nutritious meals all year. She runs a very organized kitchen and has gotten to know our students very well, and we’re grateful for her service.
