Welcome to St. John's Lutheran Early Learning Center (ELC). We provide children with early learning experiences in an environment founded on Christian love. We offer programs for children six weeks old and up.
The ELC is part of St. John's Lutheran Church and School. We are members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and are in full agreement with their teachings. The ELC follows many policies set for the entire school.

Our Mission
The mission of St. John's Lutheran School and Early Learning Center is to make disciples of Jesus by providing Christ-centered education that prepares students for lives of Christian service.
Our Goals and Objectives
The objectives of St. John's ELC program are to teach young children and their families about God's love and His plan for salvation, guide them in applying their faith to life and in sharing that faith with others, and provide them with spiritual and educational support.
St. John's takes seriously its obligation to teach and train children in accordance to Jesus' command, "Go and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20) Thus the goal for the ELC program is to nurture and train Jesus' lambs to follow him in all that they do.
Although parents have been given the primary responsibility for training their children, the church is to assist the parents to train children in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord. Complete cooperation between home and church is necessary for the welfare of the children.
Philosophy of Education and Areas of Development
We believe that it is our duty to provide children with early learning experiences in an environment founded on Christian love. We will strive to meet the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of each child in a developmentally appropriate manner.

Spiritual Development
- We will provide a Christian learning environment through group concern and caring, daily Bible stories, simple prayers and songs, and through experiencing God’s love in our daily work and play.

Social Development
- We will provide an environment in which children develop healthy attitudes toward themselves and others. It is important that they learn to understand, respect, and cooperate with others. Our program provides important opportunities for children to make new friends, work with one another, and learn to appreciate and respect the work and play areas of others.

Emotional Development
- We will provide positive guidance to enhance your child’s understanding of self-worth. Through problem solving, the children will learn to be responsible and work both in groups and independently.

Intellectual Development
- We will provide an environment in which each child will experience a hands-on approach and play based curriculum that provides the most conductive environment for learning. Through play we are able to enhance and teach pre-reading skills and concepts, foundations for math and science, writing skills, creative art, dramatic play, and social and emotional activities. All these factors will be essential in your child’s future educational success.

Physical Development
- We will provide opportunities for each child to develop large motor coordination through activities in the gym and outside. The children will also be encouraged to develop their fine motor skills through various activities like sorting, doing puzzles, rubbings, printing letters, and art.
